Wedding Photography Packages: Choosing Between Digital & Album or Digital Photos Only

This week, I’ve had the pleasure of chatting with seven couples planning their weddings. And when the topic of photography packages comes up, I find myself giving the same pitch every time. So, I thought, "Why not make a blog post about it?" Now, next time we chat, I can simply say, “Did you see my recent blog post?” Not to save my time, but to save your time from listening to me waffle on (again)!

One big decision

When it comes to your wedding, one big decision—aside from whether to serve turkey or beef (go with the beef, turkey is for Christmas!) - is how you want to preserve the magic of your day. After you’ve chosen your wedding photographer, picking the right photography package is key. With me, you’ve got two main options:

1) An album with digital photos, or

2) Digital photos without an album.

Let’s break them down.

Option 1: Album with Digital Photos

This package is like getting all the wedding cake and eating it. You not only receive high-quality digital images but also a beautifully handcrafted photo album. Imagine flipping through the pages of a gorgeous album that tells the story of your day, instead of scrolling through photos on your phone. It’s a timeless way to cherish your memories.

The physical presence of an album can be comforting and nostalgic - kind of like watching your favourite DVD (mine is Love, Actually) instead of endlessly scrolling Netflix. Boo! Plus, it’s a great way to show off your big day to family and friends without saying, “Hold on, let me find that photo on my phone…” Just please don’t spill drinks on it if you’re leaving it on the coffee table! (It’s happened!)

If you love the idea of flipping through pages and reliving your wedding day in a tangible way, this option is for you. And don’t worry, you still get all the digital goodies included in…

Option 2: Digital Photos Only

If you’re more of a modern minimalist who prefers to keep things digital, this option is calling your name. It gives you the flexibility to store, share, and print your photos whenever and however you like. It’s budget-friendly too, which means more cash for the honeymoon (or a fancy toaster).

This option is perfect if you’re tech-savvy or plan to create your own photo book later on. You get all the images, and the freedom to decide how and when to display them—whether that’s plastering them all over your Instagram or framing your favourites for your walls.

Conclusion

Both options have their perks. If you value tradition and want a keepsake that you can hold, the album with digital photos is a fantastic choice. But if you’re all about flexibility and prefer a modern approach, the digital photos-only package might be more your style.

If I were in your shoes, I’d probably go for the album and digital photos. I’ve got three album options to choose from, each with its own price tag, but they don’t break the bank - so why not? However, if you think your album would end up gathering dust in the back of a cupboard, stick with the digital package and turn your favourite shots into home décor.

Now, whichever option you pick, just remember: your wedding day is going to be awesome, and your photos will be too. Let’s make sure we capture it in a way that you’ll love forever!
