Welcome to the winter wedding of Shauneen & Emmett.

At least, that’s what the calendar says. Even though it looks like it’s the middle of July, this is actually a November wedding. What’s an Irish wedding without the weather having a mind of its own. For all you brides and grooms researching when in the year to have your Donegal wedding, this gorgeous wedding isn’t much help as this time next year, there could be snow on the lovely grounds of the Redcastle Hotel in Donegal. Side note, July 2023 was monsoon season in Northern Ireland!

Meet Emmett, today’s groom. Doesn’t he look grand in his fancy Marc Darcy suit courtesy of Tomorrows in Derry. Such a lovely colour and so different. I wear Marc Darcy waistcoats to my weddings and lucky for me, we didn’t clash and I was in my burgundy colours.

My day started with the boys at their home in Derry for Emmett’s groom prep photos. I love doing these, it’s a nice start to the day and allows the groom to ease into his photos. They also look great in the album and helps set the scene.

After some fun with Emmett, it was off to lovely Culmore to visit today’s gorgeous bride to be, Shauneen. When I arrived, the girls were still in the thick of things when it came to hair and makeup.

After a little while, it was time for some fun PJ shots and soon the girls got into their amazing gowns. In-between the waiting, I filled my time with photographing the details and some beautiful pictures of the younger ones in the house.

I finished Shauneen’s bride preps with some pictures of the bridesmaids and family before jumping in the car to go to the Redcastle.

Today’s wedding is a civil ceremony at the Redcastle. It’s insane how popular these have become over the years. It was a gorgeous ceremony and enjoyed by all who were present.

After the many handshakes and because the sun was shining, we pressed ahead with the bridal party photos. Ordinarily, I like to give the couple some time to mingle and catch their breath at this point but because we live in Ireland and we get treated to Irish weather, we decided to keep going while the sun was out.

When Shauneen visited my studio to discuss her ideas for her wedding, she kept talking about how gorgeous her wedding dress was that she got from Verona Bridal NI. She kept saying that she wanted all the detail to be seen and especially the sparkles. Shauneen had mentioned that she had seen so many other photos of bride’s dresses where it was blown out or not looking as good as it could be.

Hopefully I photographed it well and you can see the sparkle in the dress. Did I do a good job, Shauneen? :-)

Of course, by the end of the bridal party shoot, it started raining so that was our cue to go back into the Redcastle. By that stage, we had loads and we were all happy.

After some candids of guests and some beautiful family photos, it was time for the speeches!

The speeches had everything, tears, cheers and lots of laughter.

This was where my day finished.

Congratulations again to Emmett and Shauneen. You had the best day at the Redcastle in Donegal.

Shoutout to the following suppliers who helped make the day go so well and the biggest shoutout to fellow photographer, Declan who assisted me.
