I’ve been doing wedding photography for a long time time now and I get asked questions everyday so this is some of the best (and worst) questions I’ve been asked down the years.

Bare with me, it’s a long list. Hopefully you find this helpful if you decide to book me as your wedding photographer or if you have already booked your wedding photography. Oh and apologies about the order, they are all over the place. I wrote these as they came to me.

Why are you a wedding photographer?

I became a wedding photographer because I want to document the moments that matter and what matters most are family, friends and the memories we create together. On your wedding day, there will be moments that you’ll remember that you saw and moments that I will capture that happened in the background.

I’m planning my wedding. Aren’t all photographers the same?

There is a big difference in photographer A and photographer B. Honestly, I wouldn’t even call myself a photographer, I’m a wedding photographer. I’m a specialist in my field because I only photograph weddings. There is a big difference in a photographer that does lots of subjects and a dedicated wedding photographer.

I’m planning my wedding. Why should I care about you?

If you care about your wedding photography and having it the best it can be, I am exactly what you want from your wedding photographer.

Do you have my date available?

I hope so! I get asked to photograph weddings as far as two years before the big day but I believe that if I’m meant to be your wedding photographer, I’ll be available for your date no matter when you ask me to shoot your wedding. You can check your date over here.

Our budget is tight. Can you work with us on price?

My collections are available here. I like to think there is a wedding photography package that suits everyone.

How will I receive my images?

Your best images will be displayed on your wedding album. The best place to view them. The rest, including all the ones from your album will be provided on a USB. A proper one that won’t break down after a few weeks. You can opt to get your digital images supplied over the cloud instead if that works best for you.

Yes, send me your contact details with the best time and I’ll ask one of my couple if they would like to chat to you about how they got on wiith their wedding photographer.

Do you offer standalone engagement shoots?

I do engagement shoots exclusively for my wedding couples only.

How long will it take for us to see our photos?

Usually and not including peak periods, you’ll be invited into my studio within one calendar month to see your slideshow.

All of your wedding photos on my stunning big screen tv with the most gorgeous wedding music in the background. If the wedding buzz has left you, hopefully this will bring it back.

Is all the work on your website your own and are they all real weddings?

Everything is photographed by myself (no second shooters, in my experience, they are not necessary) and all of the images you see are from real weddings. No models or pretend weddings here.

Can I see some full real wedding albums?

Yes of course! You can visit my studio to see some of my albums at a time that suits you. Pop over here to book your visit.

Have you worked at our venue before?

In most cases, yes I will have worked at your venue and if I haven’t, I probably have another wedding booked there before your own wedding day. Failing that, I will do a scouting visit before hand to make sure I’m familiar with the place before your wedding day.

What’s included in the wedding packages you offer?

For most collections, coverage begins when I photograph either the bride or the groom or both during morning preps right through to arrival at the hotel. You have the option to send me home at this stage or to keep me on until the speeches or the dancing. You can go over them in detail by visiting here.

Do you travel?

I do (pun intended) of course travel to anywhere in Ireland.

Have you insurance?

Of course. Doesn’t everyone? Seriously, not everyone has insurance so be careful who you book.

What happens if you are unable to attend my wedding?

As a past and current member of various wedding photography associations, I know lots of other wedding photographers who I can lean on in times of trouble. I will always do my best to find you a suitable alternative if disaster ever happens..

What is a reasonable amount to spend on a wedding photographer?

Let’s face it, you could look around your local area and find a photographer who will do your wedding photography for something as low as £500 to £1,000. Does that sound reasonable? Yes? Sorry, to me that’s crazy.

So you are saying that you are more expensive than £1,000?

Yes. In my experience and after talking to loads previous brides and grooms who went down the road of the budget photographer, most are disappointed. My wedding photography prices can be viewed by visiting here.

Why are you so expensive?

I was always taught to know my worth. I’m very good at what I do and I make my brides and grooms very happy with my service and the final product they receive. Quality wedding photography is expensive, as it should be. You and your family are going to cherish your wedding photography for the rest of your lives.

What happens if your camera breaks during our wedding?

If my camera stops working, I’ll put it down and pick up another that I’ll have with me. Like every other wedding photographer, we are at the mercy of technology and we never know when something decides to stop working. I carry backups of everything so I won’t be stuck.

Do you play well with others?

Of course, there are lots more going on than photography at weddings. I want to make sure that every supplier can do their job well.

Will we be late to our venue?

I make it my mission to have you on time for everything. Weddings are like dominoes, if you are late to the ceremony or if your photo shoot goes on too long, you’ll not arrive on time at your venue. This isn’t something that I imagine you want to happen and neither do I.

What if the weather isn’t what we want on my wedding day?

I’ve been doing weddings long enough to know what to do when it rains or if the sun comes out. I promise you’ll have brilliant photos whatever the weather.

What do I get?

You’ll get all of your hi-res digital images which will be edited and ready for printing.

What about airbrushing, do you do that?

Yes, but not necessary unless you really want it.

Are your prices going to increase by the time my wedding comes?

No. Whatever we agree, that will be the price you pay. Nothing more, nothing less.
